We are enjoy now WORLD CUP 2010: CESC FABREGAS WANTS TO PLAY HIS PART FOR SPAIN

ABOVE: World Cup 2010: Cesc Fabregas in training as Spain prepare to tackle Germany tomorrow

The 23-year-old said: “All I want is to play football. It’s the semi-final of the biggest tournament in the world and I just want to play.

“I want to enjoy things and do well for the team and show everyone how I can play.”

Fabregas might be one of the most coveted midfielders in the world, but he still finds himself down the pecking order, trailing behind the likes of Xavi and Andres SDHpIniesta.

The Gunners star, who missed the end of the Premier League season with a cracked fibula, admits that while he’s taking great pride in Spain’s march towards the final, he is frustrated at not playing a bigger part.

He added: “When I come on I don’t think about that. I feel good. I feel motivated. Of course when you are not playing you have to give even more to get yourself in the team.

“I needed games. I needed minutes on the pitch. You can train as much as you like, but if you don’t play, then you never get your proper fitness back.

“Hopefully in the next two games I will feel better. Everyone is really proud of what we have achieved so far, but our aim is obviously to win it.”

Another Premier League star having a lean time of things is Liverpool’s talismanic goalscorer Fernando Torres, who, unbelievably, has yet to hit the net in South Africa.

Fabregas said: “We have other people who can score goals – everyone in our team has a goal in them.

“Fernando is a very important player for us. He’s a strong guy, a big personality, so I’m sure he will be okay.”

Fabregas says that although Germany go into the game on the back of an impressive couple of results – the 4-1 defeat of England followed by the 4-0 humiliation of Argentina – Spain are ready.

He adds: “Germany are a very strong side, probably the strongest in the tournament. It will be a very exciting game between two teams who play football.”
